ROCHESTER - A Rochester man wanted on a bench warrant was taken into custody this morning outside Jay's Discount & Tobacco.
With heavy traffic flowing both ways on Wakefield Street, two officers made the collar around 8:40 a.m. at the north end of the Lilac Plaza parking lot across from Chestnut Hill Road.
The arrest of Timothy Hudon, 39, formerly of Barker Court and Portland Street, was made possible thanks to an observant off-duty Rochester officer who noticed Hudon in the vicinity and called it into headquarters, Rochester Police Sgt. Randy Smith said today.

After police loaded Hudon into a cruiser, they painstakingly searched his duffle bag, which held several plastic soda bottles.
Police at the scene would not discuss any details of the search.
It was not immediately clear what had led to the capias warrant out of Strafford County Superior Court or the underlying offense for which he was originally arrested.
Hudon, however, does have a history with police in both Maine and New Hampshire.
He was arrested in December 2016 by Maine State Police in the burglary of the former Dee's Diner on Route 202 in Lebanon, Maine, that occurred on Nov. 2 or Nov. 3. Also arrested in the burglary was Melissa Ramos of Ossipee.
Hudon was also charged by Rochester Police in December 2016 with seized property.
In January 2011 he was indicted by a York County grand jury on burglary charges in connection with another alleged Lebanon burglary.
