By now former fugitive from justice Timothy Wayne Smith is likely back in a New Hampshire State Prison, but the firearms he allegedly stole during several recent Lebanon burglaries may still not have been accounted for, says a U.S. Marshal.

Smith, 22, formerly of Rochester, was captured on Tuesday by Manchester (NH) Police after a series of tips led them to a city apartment.

Smith, who had been the subject of a manhunt by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, was arrested without incident.

But the activities of Smith who broke off contact with his parole officer shortly after being released from prison in August, are still very much being investigated, both by Maine State Police and Rochester Police, U.S. Marshal Jeffrey White said on Friday.

White said no weapons were recovered at the time of Smith’s arrest.

The Marshals last weekend released a press release alerting the public that Smith was a fugitive from justice and was considered armed and dangerous after allegedly having stolen several firearms from Lebanon homes.

Smith was serving time prior to his August release for receiving stolen property.

Maine State Police told The Lebanon Voice this week they were sorting through a raft of recent burglaries in Lebanon and other nearby towns and trying to determine which ones Smith may have been involved in.

The focus of the investigation by Rochester Police is unclear. They did not return a phone call to The Lebanon Voice as of presstime.

While Smith is listed as a former resident of Rochester, his ties to the city are also unclear.
