Police probe boat collision on Lake Winnisquam that killed elderly Tilton man

TILTON - An elderly Tilton man was killed on Sunday when his scull was struck by a pontoon boat on Lake Winnisquam.

The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. drawing Marine Patrol officers to the scene where they learned that Thomas Mead, 76, of Tilton, had been operating a scull when he was struck by a pontoon boat operated by a 17-year-old male.

The operator of the pontoon boat was able to get Mead aboard his vessel and performed CPR efforts until fire rescue units arrived on the scene. Mead was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
