ROLLINSFORD - Rollinsford Police are on the lookout today for a Kia Forte with no rear bumper believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

Police got involved Sunday around 8:20 p.m. when they responded to Portland Avenue in the area of Roberts Road for a motor vehicle crash. A preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle and an unidentified vehicle were involved in a collision at the intersection of Portland Avenue and Roberts Road, resulting in serious injury to the operator of the motorcycle.

The operator of the motorcycle was taken to Wentworth Douglass Hospital with serious injuries.

The Rollinsford Police Department was assisted on scene by the Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team. After a brief investigation safety officials believe that the vehicle that left the scene is a 2010-2013 Kia Forte that is missing the rear bumper and may have taillight damage. It is believed that prior to the crash, the rear bumper of the vehicle had previously been replaced with an aftermarket bumper that was coated with a black primer, but never painted to match the rest of the vehicle.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information to assist with identifying the other involved vehicle or operator is asked to contact Sergeant Mitchell Brooks at (603) 608-9121 or at mbrooks@rollinsfordpolice.org
