Pittsfield man fatally shot by police after 10-hour armed standoff

CONCORD - An armed standoff in Pittsfield that started with a domestic incident ended with a man being fatally shot by police during an exchange of gunfire.

The incident unfolded Monday afternoon as officers from the Pittsfield Police Department responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance at 40 A Lyford Hill Road in Pittsfield.

Upon arrival, Pittsfield Police called the Central New Hampshire Special Operations Unit, which is a regional SWAT Team, for assistance.

The standoff last 10 hours before there was an exchange of gunfire resulting in the subject's death.

The deceased was identified as Anthony Hannon, 52, of Pittsfield.

An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine his cause and manner of death.

No law enforcement officers or others were injured during the incident. Pursuant to protocol, the name of the officers involved in the incident are being withheld pending the conclusion of formal interviews.

The involved officers did not have body or cruiser cameras.

This incident is being investigated by the Attorney General's Office and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit.
