CONCORD - The man who shot and killed a New Hampshire Hospital security guard had bought the gun he used at a Barrington gun shop, according to a report released on Thursday from the Attorney General's Office.
John Madore, 33, was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to mental issues he suffered in 2016, but he told the Barrington dealer who sold him the weapon that he'd never been committed, according to the report in Madore's death at the hands of New Hampshire state trooper.
In a glaring error of omission, New Hampshire does not require commitment records to be submitted to the background database, according to the the AG's office.

After security guard and former Franklin police chief Bradly Haas was killed by Madore two seconds after entering the hospital lobby during the Nov. 17 incident, he was fatally shot by a New Hampshire state trooper.
According to the AG's report, Madore parked a U-Haul truckin the hospital's parking lot, left it running and entered the lobby where Haas was standing at a metal detector.
"Immediately, and without warning, Madore removed a pistol from the pocket of his sweatshirt, walked directly toward S.O. Haas and shot him with the pistol, causing S.O. Haas to collapse," the report states.
Madore then continued firing at Haas and various doors and windows until he ran out of bullets causing his pistol to lock.
While trying to reload, State Trooper Nathan Sleight drew his service revolver, entered the lobby and ordered Madore to drop his weapon, but he continue trying to reload it. Trooper Sleight then fired his service revolver, causing Madore to fall to the floor wounded where he continued trying to reload forcing Trooper Sleight to empty his weapon to keep Madore from reloading.
Haas, a beloved former Franklin Police Chief, died of six gunshot wounds, including one to the head.
Investigators confirmed that Madore purchased the recovered SCCY Industries, CPX-2, 9mm pistol, on Feb 22, 2020, from a gun dealer in Barrington, after affirming that he had never been committed to a mental institution when answering question number 11(f) on a Firearms Transaction Record, AFT form 4473.
