The Lebanon Voice is all about innovation.
And so it was on Thursday at the 4th of July parade in Milton Mills as the parade-cam was born. (See yesterday’s stories for more pictures.)
Last year a relative of Lebanon Voice president Martha T. Soto-Galicia was on hand to take pictures as yours truly drove the car and threw candy to the youngsters who line the parade route.
But, alas alack, this year there was no one else around, so while the president thrilled young and old alike with her clowning as Butterfingers DaKlown, I was left with the daunting task of not only driving the car and throwing candy, but also shooting pictures as well.
Proudly I must tell you first, straight up, I never hit the goat or the young girl tethered to it.
You may think that easy, but it’s not. As I threw candy I had to keep one eye in the candy recipient’s general direction and the other eye on the crowd scanning for good shots. That leaves no eye for the goat and girl.
So I had to rely on peripheral vision, keen instincts and an innate sense of feeling of dread and angst, you know that kind of “I’m about to run over some person or thing better check ahead” kind of feeling.
Good thing no one called The Lebanon Voice with a hot news tip.
