Old Orchard Beach man arrested in July assault reported in Sanford

SANFORD - An Old Orchard Beach man has been arrested in a July assault on a toddler in Sanford.

Joshua Ouellette, 24, of Old Orchard Beach, is accused of aggravated assault and assault.

Sanford Police got involved after receiving a phone call on July 25 from Southern Maine Health Care for a 2-year-old with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. After the initial investigation detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division continued the probe and issued an arrest warrant for Ouelette, who was subsequently arrested by Old Orchard Beach Police Department on Aug. 1.

Police say the child is not related to the suspect, who is being held at York County Jail on $10,000 bail.
