Obit: J. Brooks Stuart ... longtime Lebanon resident

LEBANON - Services have been set for J. Brooks Stuart, age 84, who passed away on Thursday, Feb 21, 2013, in Tampa, Fla. He was born in Sanford on May 1, 1928, to George E.T. and Mary (Fisher) Stuart.

He served in the Army in Stuttgart, Germany, in the 1950s. He was a computer programmer for General Electric in Somersworth, retiring in 1988 after 33 years of service. After his retirement, he served for over 10 years with the MMAP (Mobile Missionary Assistance Program), where he traveled the U.S. He enjoyed sports, building, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a resident of Sebring, Fla., since 1997, coming from Maine. 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanne F. Stuart, Sebring, Fla.; son, John B. Stuart, Jr., of Lebanon; daughter, Jill Guptill and her husband Mark, of Milton; son-in-law, Stephen Peasley, of North Berwick; sister, Winifred Pickering, of Lexington, Mass; and three grandchildren, Jesse Peasley, Jordan Marie Guptill and Tyler Guptill. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Peasley; sister, EvelynTorno; and brother, George Stuart Jr.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, North Berwick on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. with a time of fellowship to follow. Burial will be private.
