ROCHESTER - David L. Cormier, Sr., 74, of Rochester, passed away at Southern N.H. Medical Center in Nashua, N.H., on November 19, 2013 after a long, courageous battle with heart disease. He was born on June 17, 1939, in Rochester, to Leon E. and Pauline (Hull) Cormier. He served in the USMC during the Vietnam War.

Dave was a big bear with a huge heart. He was full of wisdom and spoke his mind often. He loved life and cherished his times boating, fishing, and oystering, especially with his father, “Pop.” He traveled to many places, near and far, over the years with Betty. He enjoyed gardening and took pride in his tomatoes. You could see his gentle soul shine through when he was with children or sitting on his back porch hand-feeding peanuts to the squirrels.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Betty Cormier of Rochester, his sons, David L. Cormier, Jr. and Bruce P. Cormier both of Rochester, his sisters, Pat Zyliak and her husband, Fred of Virginia Beach, Va. and Sandra Clay of Elm Mott, Texas, his grandchildren, Brittany, David III, Chase, Robbie, and Devon, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be greatly missed by his "adopted" daughters, Maureen Nelson and Tina Brownell.
