ROCHESTER - Muriel A Farrar of Rochester died on June 13, 2023, at Cedar Healthcare of Portsmouth.

Muriel was born on Jan. 8, 1949, in Keene. She earned her master's in education at the University of New Hampshire. During her lifetime, Muriel taught 1st and 2nd grade at Hilltop Elementary School in Somersworth and later served as assistant principal at Milton Elementary School. Additionally, she dedicated her time to teaching students studying for their GED and HSET at the Strafford County Jail through Dover Adult Learning Center.

Muriel was a highly respected member of the Gonic Friends Meeting, serving as Clerk and Quarterly Meeting Treasurer, as well as liaison to the Rochester Interfaith Council. She was an inspiring leader and a thoughtful friend. She often brought fresh flowers to brighten the meeting. She was known for her kind and gentle nature, and always had a willingness to help. Her passion was gardening, and her yard is full of beautiful flowers and shrubs.

Muriel is survived by her husband Don Foster; her daughter Alaysha Duncan; and her grandchildren Khairi and Ka'Marah; and her sister Judith Glidden.
