hoopla Recommendation
Main Desk Librarian, Stephanie, is a big fan of hoopla downloadable audiobooks. She has this to say about a recent one she listened to: The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden is a creepy twisty tale of a family that seems perfect from the outside but has problems not seen by most of their neighbors. Erika Cass is a mom who works part time as a local journalist and devotes the rest of the time to her family, her handsome computer tech husband and her two children, 14 year old daughter Hannah, a bratty teen and her 16 year old brilliant, handsome son who is adored for everything he does in school from the debate team to running track.
When a local girl goes missing, Erika is panicked. What causes this caring mom to act this way? You will have to download and listen to this addictive thriller to find out what happens.
Children's Room Book Recommendations: Bringing up Bookmonsters is a new book in the Parenting section in the Children's room. It is a great tool for caregivers to learn how to instill a love of reading in children.
Kait and Amy, in the Children's room, love the book Archimancy by J.A. White. This spooky book is about friendship, mystery, & ghosts! Cordelia Liu moves to NH from California and enrolls in a public school which happens to be haunted! A trio of kids you wouldn't have guessed would end up together, solve a complicated mystery and make decisions that could have disastrous consequences if they are wrong.
We are also excited to be offering a fun new fantasy series, Dragons in a BAG by Zetta Elliot. This chapter book is geared towards young readers who are looking for more than Magic Treehouse but aren't quite ready for Harry Potter. Jaxon is a young boy living in Brooklyn who suddenly finds himself helping a witch deliver baby dragons to a magical world.
Pop-up Programs: We will be offering occasional Pop-Up programming outdoors on the lawn starting mid-May. Pop-Up programs will be announced on our Facebook page and Instagram by 9:15 a.m., and email subscribers will also get a notification in their inbox.
The Summer Reading Program: the SRP begins Monday, June 13 and will run for seven weeks. A calendar of summer events will be available toward the end of May at the Children's Room desk and on the library website.

Community Engagement Officer Brandon Kimbrough. Should inclement weather occur we will have a smaller event inside the Children's Room.
