Pies must be entered by 11:30 am on Sunday, September 22nd. Be sure to put your name, address, phone number, and type of pie on the bottom of the dish (We usually just use a slip of paper and tape —after it is baked!). You don’t need to be present to win. If you are not present at the end of the judging, we will keep your dish until you pick it up - but you’ll want to stay for an afternoon of fun with music, hayrides, a kids pie-eating contest, and of course a chance to sample all the pies! LOGISTICS: Amateur pie makers can enter a pie in one of four categories: Apple, Other Fruit, Non-Fruit (Nut pies, etc), and Savory (Meat pies, etc.). Each pie entered allows one free admission to the event. Pies to be entered in the contest may be dropped off at the museum beginning Sunday at 10 am and must be received by 11:30am. Pies become the property of the NH Farm Museum (pie plates will be re-turned!) and will be served to the attendees after the judging. JUDGING: The judges will sample the pies and pick the first, second, and third-place winners in the four categories—Apple, Fruit, Non-fruit, and Savory. They will consider presentation, how the pie cuts, texture, and of course taste. PRIZES: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded in each of the four categories. Prizes include great items such as trophy pie plates, gift certificates, aprons, cookbooks and more from Salmon Falls Pottery, King Arthur Flour of Vermont, and other local businesses.
