MILTON - The Town Line Flea Market in Milton has scheduled its Grand Opening at 61 Old Wakefield Road in Milton this Saturday from 10-5.
“It has been quite the challenge from the start,” said Janice Brown, a longtime Milton resident, full-time IT Analyst at a local insurance company and mother of three.
Brown said she wanted a place where she could share treasures, stories, and hobbies with people.
“I am a very social person and consider myself a square peg in the corporate world. In June, I started chatting with my neighbor of 17 years, Paul Allard, about possibly renting one of his warehouses on our road to open up a flea market like no other, and Paul’s place was perfect.
“Paul and his wife started out in the warehouse over 50 years ago as a cider mill and wholesale/resale produce business and even bred rabbits for retail at one time,” she said. “Eastern Boat Works, a very successful company in Milton got their start here as well, so I am hoping that the Town Line Flea Market will continue on the same track of success.”
She said turning a warehouse with more than 3,000 square feet of concrete floor space into a warm, inviting flea market has not been easy and going through all of the zoning, site plan, fire and safety requirements with the town has been quite challenging to say the least.
She said her goal is that the Town Line Flea Market is an eclectic, social market to allow folks to unplug from the “crazy, impersonal, microwave society that we live in and step into a warm, comfortable, nostalgic place to exchange stories and ideas with each other up close and personal.”
She said among those working to help the effort are Nancy Wing of Aunt Nancy’s Candles, Happy Pappy’s Country Store, Brian and Felicia from Trinkets and Treasures, Marc Saxby from Collectiques, Joe and Brenda from Gothic Arch Homes and Sheds and Ben Jr.from the Rochester Flea Market.
‘”Folks who are renting space are loading up and decorating as quickly as possible to make our Grand Opening a day to remember and our market an on-going success, Brown said.
