Milton man gets prison for trying to have sex with girl, 13

PORTLAND, Maine - A Milton, N.H., man was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to 40 months in federal prison for traveling to Maine to have sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Chad Amodio, 43, began having inappropriate conversations with the girl on a chat website in March 2014, court documents show, and an undercover officer took over the account.

Amodio communicated with the undercover officer and made plans to travel from his Milton home to Maine in order to have sex at the girl's home.

Shortly after arriving at the Penobscot County address provided by the undercover officer, Amodio was arrested. Court records indicate alcohol and a bottle of lubricant were found in his vehicle. Amodio admitted purchasing them in anticipation of the planned sexual encounter.

Amodio pleaded guilty in November on a charge of interstate travel to have sex with a minor. He faces five years of supervised release after he completes his prison sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the Bangor Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, and the Maine State Police.
