ROCHESTER - A Milton man turned himself into police on Thursday in the hit-and-run accident that took a city woman's life on Monday.
The driver of the vehicle that fled the scene contacted Rochester Police earlier this week, which led to the filing of an arrest warrant for 43-year-old Christopher Robinson of Milton.
Robinson had not been identified as the driver prior to reaching out to RPD, according to a press release sent out by Rochester Police Public Information Officer Andrew Swanberry.
Killed as a result of the June 2 crash was Kimberly Lucier, 60, who was struck while walking on Milton Road near Hannaford.
Lucier suffered a head injury in the crash and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
Police say they had not identified Robinson as a suspect prior to his calling them.
Lucier, a homeless person well known and beloved in the community, was walking north on Milton Road around 10:20 p.m. when she was struck by the Robinson's Ford F150 pickup, which was also headed north, according to police.
He was charged with felony conduct after an accident for having left the scene of an accident that resulted in death or personal injury. The charge carries a three and a half to seven year prison sentence.
Robinson was released on $5,000 unsecured bond and will be arraigned in Strafford Superior Court next month.
