ROCHESTER - Marcia Cecile Papatones, 81, of Bermuda Lane died peacefully at home on January 11, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Somersworth, on February 25,1933, she was the daughter of the late Mayor of Somersworth Arthur Proulx and his wife Annie (Laliberte) Proulx and Sister to the late Dr. Ronald Proulx U.S.N. She attended local schools, including St. Martin Academy and Somersworth High School where she was graduated class Salutatorian. She was a lifelong resident of the Somersworth and Rochester communities.
A welcome and familiar face, Marcia worked her way up through the ranks at Somersworth National Bank over a span of 30 years before retiring as Assistant Treasurer. Her kind and gentle spirit drew many to her and she enjoyed uncounted life-long friendships.
Many will remember her passion for New England sports teams, her warm and mischievous smile, her joy of a good book, her sweet tooth, dining out and many hours spend on the beaches of Maine and Florida.
A woman of devout Catholic faith, she enjoyed lifelong membership at St. Martin Church in Somersworth.
Her beloved husband of 24 years, Nicholas J. Papatones, died in 2012. She and Nick enjoyed their winter home in Bradenton, Florida for more than eighteen years, making many friends during their time there.
Her first love was undoubtedly her family. She is survived by her son, Norman Doyon and his wife Andrea of Rollinsford; her daughter Paula Minnehan and husband Peter of Hopkinton; her son Roger Doyon and wife Heidi of Keene; her stepdaughter Constance Garnett of East Waterboro, Maine and stepson James Papatones of Tokyo, Japan. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A son, Martin R. Doyon, and stepson Kenneth Garnett predecease her.
