ROCHESTER - Marc Bernard Bergeron died peacefully at his home on Feb. 16 after a brief illness. Marc was born in Rochester on Aug. 20, 1944, to parents Lucien and Catherine (Johnson) Bergeron. One of 10 children his siblings include sister Ann Torr, brothers George, Alan, Lin and Leo and was predeceased by sister Joan Couture and brothers Louis, Dick and Guy Bergeron.
Marc graduated from Spaulding High School in 1963 and after attended the University of Southern Colorado at Pueblo and UNH. Marc was also a proud Viet Nam veteran of the Navy. On Aug. 2, 1969, Marc married the love of his life, high school sweetheart Marcia LaChance, who predeceased him in 2019 after 49 years of marriage.
They are survived by their four children, son Jamie and wife Stephanie of Rochester, son Jon-Paul, wife Sarah and grandsons Micah and Cody of Oak Creek Colo., daughter Jessica Carpenter and husband Dale of Barton Vt., son Jeremy of Farmington, grandson Tyler Bergeron and great granddaughter Aubree Bergeron of Rochester as well as many nieces and nephews.
A former recreation director for the city of Rochester, as well as a veteran of the restaurant business Marc was best known as a beloved teacher and football coach whose true passion was teaching children and treated every child as his own, always with his own brand of humor. Always the eternal teenager his only mission in life was to make anybody who met him smile and laugh, his constant light will be forever missed by those that knew him.
