FARMINGTON - The Farmington man who died in a Tuesday morning house fire has been identified as Thomas Marshal, 44, who succumbed to smoke inhalation when he re-entered the burning building, officials confirmed.

Three family members were treated and released for smoke inhalation.

Marshal may have gone back into the burning home at 495 Ten Rod Road after a dog later found to have survived the blaze.

Firefighters responded around 9:30 a.m. The blaze destroyed the second floor of the two-story building.

The cause of the blaze has not been released, but it was ruled accidental by fire investigators.

Fire officials warned the pubic that re-entering a burning building is fraught with danger.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
