POLAND, Maine - A Limerick man was arrested on Thursday after leading local and state police on a chase that only ended after a tire deflation device was deployed in Poland.
The suspect vehicle, a stolen Service Master van, was spotted around 10 a.m. by Oxford Police, who attempted to make a stop only to have the driver flee the scene.
The van then traveled north on Route 121 in Oxford before heading south on Route 26 toward Poland, where State Troopers joined the pursuit.
An attempt to get spike mats out in Oxford failed, but an Androscoggin Sheriffs Deputy was able to deploy spikes on Route 26 in Poland, safely ending the chase.
William Wyman, 46, was arrested and transported to the Oxford County Jail. He was charged with felony eluding and felony unauthorized use of property, misdemeanor violation of conditions of release, failing to stop for a police officer, driving to endanger, criminal speed and traffic infractions.
At the time of his arrest Wyman was out on bail for a felony unauthorized use of property, a stolen vehicle, from earlier this month.
