ROCHESTER - A Maine man was arrested for driving under the influence on Wednesday after he crashed into another vehicle at the stoplight in front of the North Main Street Cumberland Farms.
Moments before the crash Rochester Police dispatch received a call from a motorist on South Main Street that a vehicle was headed into town and that the male operator appeared to be nodding off at the wheel, Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said on Friday.
"The caller described the vehicle to us and a few minutes later we were notified of a motor vehicle accident on North Main Street involving the same vehicle," Pinkham said.
After the crash occurred around 6:55 p.m. the driver of the suspect car was given a field sobriety test after which Joshua C. Johnson, 41, of 35 Log N Rock Road, Eliot, was charged with DUI and taken into custody.
