Man charged with DUI, hit-run and open container after rear-ending school bus

STODDARD - A Stoddard man was arrested for DUI on Tuesday after he allegedly left the scene of an accident in Keene only to rearend a school bus in Stoddard minutes later.
State Troopers got involved around 3:50 p.m. when they received a report of a hazardous operator traveling on Route 9 in Roxbury. Initial information was that the vehicle was having difficulty maintaining lane control and that it may have been involved in a crash on Sullivan Road in Keene.
A reporting caller said the vehicle was smoking and appeared to have lost a tire.
Troopers began to search the area, and around 4:10 p.m. received a new report that the vehicle was now on Route 9 in Stoddard turning northbound onto Route 123.
Several minutes later the vehicle struck the rear-end of a school bus near the Stoddard Fire Department. Upon arrival, troopers determined that the vehicle was a 2018 Cadillac XTS, driven by, Steven M. LaCroix, 61.
There were no injuries as a result of the crash. The school bus sustained minimal damage, and had 18 students on board at the time of the collision.
LaCroix was charged with aggravated DUI, conduct after an accident, negligent operation and open container. He was released on personal recognizance will be arraigned in Keene District Court later this month.
