ACTON, Maine - An Acton man was arrested on Monday after he and a group of local community members tried to assist police in forming a roadblock seeking to corral an individual who was fleeing Milton, N.H., officers.
A statement released on Tuesday from the York County Sheriff's Office said that Milton Police "initiated a vehicle chase in their community that continued into Acton, Maine and onto Foxes Ridge Road."
Prior to entering Maine, the suspect vehicle's tires were deflated thanks to a spike mat in New Hampshire.
A slow speed pursuit continued into Acton where around 9:15 p.m. some Acton community members "exited their residences and tried to assist the New Hampshire authorities by forming a roadblock," the YCSO release states.
Robert Sprague, 55, of Acton, who was armed with a shotgun, fired a shot at the suspect's vehicle, hitting the trunk lid of the vehicle.
Sprague was arrested for reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon (Class C). He was transported to jail where he posted a $2,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the York Judicial Center next month.
A Class C felony in Maine can draw up to a five year prison stint.
Milton Police were not immediately available for comment on this article.
