ROCHESTER - Lila Lillian (Young) Dionne died on March 28, 2021. Born April 26, 1931 to Carlton and Dorothy (Davis) Young in Rochester, Lila was one of six children. She was raised in Rochester and lived there all her life. She attended Spaulding High School and worked in several factory jobs including shoe shops and several years at Davidson Rubber in Dover. Lila rarely traveled out of Rochester, considering going to Portsmouth a real excursion! She made two trips to Norristown Pa., where her beloved youngest brother Lloyd lived: once for his wedding, and later for his funeral.
Lila was happiest when there was a child in her life whom she could "do for", babies especially, and filled many years in later life babysitting children of friends and neighbors, or as she called them: "her kiddos". She delighted in the fact that so many of them still called her Nana long after the baby-sitting days were over. She was especially thrilled that one of her kiddos named her own daughter Lila in tribute to her.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Richard Dionne; all of her siblings: Ralph Young, Beverly Marcoux, Irene Rumrill, Betty Sullivan and Lloyd Young; two of her children: Armand Richard Dionne, and Kathleen Annette Moore; as well as two of her grandchildren: Michael Dionne and Michelle Cook.
She is survived by two children: Anna Griffin, (husband Richard), and Danny Michael Dionne; five grandchildren: Christopher Dionne, David Desmarais, Shawn Morrill, Nicole Dionne and Adam Cook; and four great-grandchildren: Rachel Desmarais, Frank Desmarais, Jacob Cook and Jonathan Cook.
