ROCHESTER - Leslie Edwin Towle, son of Gerald and Beulah Towle went home to be with Jesus on Thursday Jan. 6, 2022, just shy of his 90th birthday. His life lived out in humility and love, was a testimony of faithfulness to his God and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alice (Dennis) Towle, his sister Joyce Collins (Lenox, MA.), his brother Paul Towle and wife Eleanor (Rochester) He was a beloved father to three daughters; Carol Estes and husband Daniel, Nancy Mullins and husband Stephen, and Stacy Morgan and husband Michael. He leaves a legacy of faith, love and prayers to each; including those who will reach far into the future; 9 wonderful grandchildren and 19 precious great-grandchildren.
Leslie was born in Haverhill, Mass., but lived most of his growing up days in Rochester. He graduated in 1949 from Spaulding High School. Over the years acquired degrees; a BA from M.I.T., A MA from Harvard and a business degree from the University of Buffalo. He lived and worked in Rochester and Tonawanda, NY, Brussels, Belgium, and Dover. He was employed as a vice president of Spaulding Fiber Co. for much of his career and later did consulting for top Fortune 500 companies. He enjoyed sports and travel.
Leslie was a longtime member of the Advent Christian Church in Rochester, where he met his wife Alice. Later he attended Grace Baptist Church in Tonawanda, True Memorial Baptist Church, Rochester, and Bethany Church in Rye. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing his trumpet, singing and serving passing down to his family a love of music and a worshiping heart.
He was a veteran, and considered it a great privilege to serve his country, rising to rank of Captain in the Army.
