FARMINGTON, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse junior Alaina Shorey of Lebanon has earned a spot on the North Atlantic Conference Sportsmanship Team.
The selection of a Sportsmanship Team is new to the conference this year, and is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the women's lacrosse culture and game environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond rules and etiquette.
Erica Letellier (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford), meanwhile, was named to the NAC First Team All-Conference squad. She was one of the premier defenders in the league this season, leading the Beavers with 43 ground balls, good for sixth in the conference. She caused 26 turnovers on the defensive end of the field, which ranked eighth overall in the NAC and was third in conference play with 21 caused turnovers.
UMaine-Farmington travels to New England College on Saturday for its NAC quarterfinal matchup at 1 p.m.
