LEBANON - A small but reverent and appreciative crowd gathered at the Town Offices on Monday to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
Don Lovely, Commander of Lebanon American Legion Post 214, paid homage to our war dead and urged the crowd to remember the sacrifice of so many who died for their country.
Steve Wanager, who recently moved to Lebanon from Eliot and builds replica vintage cannon, fired off three shots from three different replicas in a stirring salute.
As cannon smoke billowed over the field and the acrid smell of gunpowder filled the air, Evan Hanzl, a junior at Noble High School, played a powerful rendition of Taps.
Member of the Lebanon Legion Post were present for the ceremony along with Lebanon Boy Scouts Troop 369, Lebanon Girl Scouts Troop 1919 and Lebanon Cub Scouts Pack 369.
