ALFRED, Maine - A Lebanon man faces jail time after his indictment in a fraudulent check-cashing incident last fall.
Stephen Holtby, 52, of 24 Van Veen Drive, is charged with negotiating a fraudulent check in the amount of between $1,000 and $10,000 on Sept. 24.
The Class C felony carries a prison term of up to five years.
Court records show Holtby was convicted of a similar offense in 2003.
A York Count grand jury handed down the indictment earlier this month.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been presented to warrant a trial.
