SCARBOROUGH, Maine - A Lebanon man was arrested and charged with drug trafficking Friday night after police stopped his vehicle on the Maine Turnpike in Scarborough and found drugs and guns inside.
David Alexandre, 22, was charged with trafficking in marijuana. He was taken Friday to Cumberland County Jail but as of today had posted bail, a jail employee said this morning.
State Police say a trooper pulled over Alexandre's Chevrolet Suburban around 6 p.m. Friday in the northbound lane of the turnpike near mile marker 41 and conducted a search of the vehicle. The trooper found an unspecified amount of processed marijuana as well as two firearms: an AK-47 rifle and a shotgun, according to a state police news release.
This isn't Alexandre's first brush with the law. He was charged with sale and use of drug paraphernalia on Horace Mills Road in Wells, Maine on Nov. 27, 2012, according to a Wells Police Arrest Log.
