The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is robust and the plating is remarkable.
That's what you get when you walk into La Corona, a longtime critically acclaimed Mexican restaurant on Farmington Road across the street from The Ridge Marketplace.
A note of caution however. When you first sit down at your table your waiter will bring you a bowl of homemade nachos with salsa ... and if you ask, queso.
It's so good, you may spoil your appetite for one of their delicious entrees.
I got the Fajita Salad, with chicken, ($11.50) a plate that features stripped grilled meat, peppers and onions.
With an ample supply of tortilla chips, salsa and queso, the waiting was a pleasure.
The meal was beautifully plated and comprised strips of mildly seasoned chicken, along with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes served on a bed of shredded lettuce with a crisp taco shell, sour cream and guac on the side.
You can also get the Fajita salad with steak or shrimp for a little extra denero.
While the food is quite exhilarating, the atmosphere is very comfortable and laid back.
I hear they make good margaritas, too.
