SKOWHEGAN, Maine - A defense motion to postpone the murder trial for a man accused of killing a former Rochester man was rejected today in Somerset County Superior Court.
The ruling means the trial will likely begin later this week.
Jason Cote is alleged to have bludgeoned to death Ricky Cole inside his Detroit home in July 2013.
Court affidavits state Cote was high and seeking drugs when he went to Cole's home in Detroit the night of the killing.
Cote is accused of using a metal pipe in the attack on Cole, who moved from Rochester to Central Maine about 12 years ago.
A conviction would net Cote a 25 year to life sentence in a Maine prison.
Cote has pleaded not guilty.
