SOMERSWORTH - Jennifer Gemma Soldati of Somersworth died peacefully on Oct. 29, 2024, surrounded by her cherished pets and children.
Born on Sept. 16, 1947, in Rochester, Jennifer was the daughter of Lincoln Arturo Soldati and Virginia Eudalia Thomas. She was the middle child, with an older sister, Stephanie Soldati, and a younger brother, Lincoln Thomas Soldati.
Jennifer is survived by her daughter Hilary Soldati, her son Joshua Soldati, and her five grandchildren: Nina, Jude, Lola, Aesa, and Nora.
Jennifer was a proud graduate of New Hampshire College and led an eclectic life that spanned the arts, politics, and executive leadership.
Jennifer's dedication to public service was evident in her tenure as a New Hampshire State Representative from 1989 to 1994, where she served as the House Minority Whip. Her commitment to her community continued as the executive director of the Somersworth Chamber of Commerce from 2006 to 2015 and as a Somersworth City Councilor from 2012 to 2016.
A passionate artist, Jennifer worked for many years as a professional potter and taught art at various institutions. Her artistic talents also extended to stained glass, quilting, watercolors, and, in her final years, oil painting. She found joy and fulfillment in her creative pursuits.
Jennifer's love for her three dogs, Lily, Henry, and Pip, was well-known. She trained them for agility competitions, showcasing her dedication and affection for her furry companions. Her cat Jack was a minor neighborhood celebrity.
Jennifer's vibrant spirit, artistic talents, and unwavering commitment to her community will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through her children, her art, and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
