ROCHESTER - Rochester Mayor T.J. Jean on Wednesday praised the high-spirited yet honorable campaign waged by challenger Fred Leonard and said he felt profoundly honored at the overwhelming landslide victory he enjoyed in Tuesday’s mayoral election.
“I was very pleased at the large margin,” he said.
Of Leonard he said, “I learned a lot about Fred Leonard the past few months. He’s a good man, and he ran a good race.”
Jean said he wanted to use whatever cache he gained with Tuesday’s win to continue the economic development he feels is so vital to Rochester’s future.
He pointed to the continued Route 11 development along with plans to bring sewerage to the Market Basket Plaza which will facilitate continued growth in that end of town.
Jean won his third straight mayoral stint by defeating Leonard handily in every city ward, finishing with 2,481 votes to Leonard’s 790, garnering more than a 3-to-1 winning ratio over his chief opponent.
