ELIOT, Maine - Jean "Jeana" Arnolda Wyndham, 78, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born May 22, 1944, in Lewiston to Arnold and Winifred (Goddard) Wyndham.
Jeana lived in Lisbon Falls as a young child. She often would talk about how her grandmother Elsie, a town clerk, would let her "make documents" as a kid when she would visit her at work.
She graduated from Eliot High in 1962 and attended The Stenotype Institute in Boston for court reporting. She decided to move to California where she worked for the phone company as an operator and where California is also where she met the father of her only child, Thomas. After moving around the country with her Navy family, she settled back in Eliot in 1983 where she raised her daughter and enjoyed many other community activities. She loved to volunteer whether it was helping adults and children learn to read and write, shipyard bloodmobiles and as a Ballot Clerk during election years.
Jeana worked for over 25 years at the Kittery Trading post selling shoes and making friends. She also enjoyed her weekly dinners with her daughter and countless apple picking adventures.
Members of her family include her daughter, Lynda Scelza and her husband Richard of Rochester, N.H., a sister, Carlene Wyndham and her husband Jack Farrell of Austin, Texas, step-grandchildren, Nick and Adam Scelza, her cousins, a nephew, David and the father of her children, Thomas Clayton.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Charles and Jon Wyndham.
