ROCHESTER - James Dean Moody, beloved son of Philip W. and Ethel M. (Shaw) Moody, of Kittery, Maine, died on June 29, 2022 at his home in Rochester, as the result of an accident. James was born on Oct. 19, 1956, at Portsmouth, the third of five siblings.

James (Jimmy) grew up in Kittery, Maine, attended Kittery schools and graduated from R.W. Traip Academy in 1975. He held several jobs including construction and refrigerator fabrication until becoming disabled after a workplace accident.

Jimmy remained as active as possible, with hobbies ranging from swimming, hiking and fishing to motor cycling and gardening. He was a whiz at car and home repair and he loved getting together with friends and family especially for cookouts - he always enjoyed a good burger. Jim loved the pet cats he had over the years: Barney, Psycho, and Maggie May. He resided in Dover for many years, moving to Rochester in 2018.

Jimmy was devoted to his parents, helping care for both in their senior years. In recent years, his car outings with his mother were among the high points of his (and her) days. He was always ready to help his family and friends. Candy Soucy and Derek Osborne, longtime friends and confidants, put it this way, " A person couldn't ask for a more caring, giving, selfless, and sharing friend. If you turned out to be a loving and caring person in his eyes, you could expect unlimited love and devotion from Jim. He was and is a one of a kind soul who can never be forgotten or replaced." Jimmy was there for his brothers and sister through thick and thin, and will be sorely missed by them.

James leaves his mother, Ethel M. Moody, of York, Maine (formerly of Kittery), brother, John J. Moody, of Concord, brother, Edward T. Moody, of Augusta, Maine, and sister, Debra L. Graves and husband Louis J. Graves, of Carmel, Maine, several nieces and nephews, and ex long-term partner of 30 years, Judy Fuller, her children, Kallie, Zach and Keith and her grandson, Jett, with whom he shared a special bond, all of Dover. He will be missed by his best friends, Derek Osborne and Candace Soucy and her son Christian of Kingston.

James was predeceased by his grandparents, his father, Philip W. Moody, Sr. and his brother, Philip W. Moody, Jr.
