CONCORD - The Attorney Generals Office announced on Thursday that the suspect in a November shooting death of a 23-year-old Jackson woman has been indicted.
Brandon R. Mitchell, 21, is accused of killing Esmae Doucette, 23, in Jackson on Nov. 30.
The Carroll County grand jury returned indictments charging Mitchell with one count of second-degree murder for knowingly causing Doucette's death by shooting her. Mitchell on was also indicted on an alternative count of second-degree murder for recklessly causing the death of Doucette.
Mitchell, of Jackson, was also formally charged with falsifying physical evidence, in that he, believing that an investigation was pending, altered or concealed any thing, to wit, moving or placing a bullet cartridge in the bedroom, with a purpose to impair its verity or availability in such investigation.
Mitchell is scheduled to be arraigned on March 16 in Carroll County Superior Court.
The charges and allegations against Mitchell are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proved guilty.
