ROCHESTER - The New Hampshire Department of Education on Thursday approved Seton Academy's application to operate a prekindergarten through eighth-grade school in Rochester.
The news was released to The Rochester Voice by Seton Foundation President Mike Pelletier, who said the Seton Foundation board had been working tirelessly to get everything in place so that the school could be in operation for the upcoming academic year.
"The Seton Foundation Board has worked very hard to get all approvals, permits and licenses in place to open for the 2022-2023 school year," Pelletier said. "It was very important for us to have an option for Catholic education available to parents in Rochester and the surrounding communities. The Lord certainly had a plan for us to follow in order to provide this opportunity for children to receive a robust education in a faithful environment."
He also thanked Jim Broom of St. Patrick's Academy, Dave Thibault, superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Manchester and Bishop Libasci for letting them use the space inside Holy Rosary Church on North Main Street for their first year.
In its inaugural year an enrollment of about 40 students is expected with five faculty to provide a stunning teacher-pupil ration that will provide instruction in a "robust, Catholic based curriculum designed for all grade levels," Pelletier said.
He said all the staff are professionals with many years' experience teaching in various Catholic schools throughout New Hampshire.
Seton Academy's first day of school is Sept. 6.
They are still taking enrollments for all grade levels.
