LEBANON - So you've taken the kids to the water park, the amusement ride park, the beach and the movies.
Here's something else for your summer bucket list.
There's a place that charges no admission that will thrill and delight you and your kids as much as any of the aforementioned attractions.
Right here in your own back yard, Skydive New England puts on a show every 20 minutes as 15 or so skydivers come careening to earth, and like a snowflake, each landing is unique.
Some come in fast, some slow.
Some come in so close you can hear them whiz by as they prepare to land.
Some land on their feet, shuffling a few quick steps so as not to take a tumble.
Some take a tumble and get up laughing.
Novices, with the instructor at their back, skid to a stop on their butts.
Then there are the showoffs.
I saw one experienced skydiver loop his body forward so it looked like he was going to dive into the ground at 20 mph, then gracefully reverse his position to land softly on his feet.
On a beautiful day like yesterday, with some clouds but mostly blue sky, it was a spectacular day to watch people have so much fun jumping out of an airplane.
Grilled chicken salad, left, and taco salad with shaved steak, both around eight bucks. |
Speaking of airplanes, what kid doesn't love to watch planes take off and land a few hundred feet away?
The planes land about every 20 minutes or so, pick up another load of skydivers and take off with just a few minutes on the ground.
Between the skydivers, the planes landing and taking off it's pretty close to nonstop entertainment.
Grab a delicious lunch at the Ripcord Café, sit down at one of their outdoor tables and enjoy the show.
I doubt anybody will be disappointed.
