Rochester area residents have managed to put off their AC installs till late this spring, but the clock is ticking as a life-threatening, four-day heat wave is expected to bore down on the Lilac City beginning Tuesday.
The good news is that the Kittredge Memorial Tournament to be played over at the Roger Allen Baseball complex this weekend and Father's Day will see pleasant weather, but "Come Monday," as the late Jimmy Buffett would say, the humidity ramps up a notch, and by Tuesday it will be downright nasty hot, with a heat index high of 103.
High temps for Tuesday through Friday will be 94, 94, 99 and 94, respectively, with heat index values of 103 on Tuesday, 105 on Wednesday, 106 on Thursday and 98 on Friday.
Meanwhile, the UV index, which measures the strength of the sunburn-producing ultraviolet radiation, will be very high on Tuesday and Wednesday before tapering off a bit the final two days of the heat wave.
A couple of thunderstorms on Friday will close the book on the heat wave, but the humidity hangs around next Saturday with a heat index high of 88.
