ROCHESTER - Rochester Police continue to investigate last month's shooting on Lafayette Street that sent two victims to the hospital.
The shooting occurred in the area of the fairgrounds on Sept. 5 around 1:10 a.m. Both victims were expected to recover, police said.
Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said on Thursday that the case is still being actively investigated, but that he had no new information that could be released.
Police responded to the scene after receiving a call that a male had been shot in the leg. Another male received a shrapnel wound from the shooting.
An area where fireworks were reported during the same time frame was determined to be the scene of the shooting.
Minutes after the shooting was reported a male patient at Frisbie Memorial Hospital was being treated for what he claimed was a gunshot wound, according to police dispatch reports, which also noted the car the man arrived in was riddled with what appeared to be multiple gunshot holes.
The car was impounded, said Pinkham, who added that the incident did not appear to be a random attack.
