ROCHESTER - While President Trump decisively trounced former U.N. Ambassador and South Caroline governor Nikki Haley by double digits, 54.3-43.7 percent on Tuesday, Rochester Republicans gave the former president almost 60 percent of the vote.
More than 6,500 votes were cast on the city's GOP ballot, with 2,316 cast for Haley and 4,026 for Trump.
Ward 1 led the way for the Trump vote with 750 ballots, followed by Ward 3 with 725, Ward 5 with 713, Ward 2 with 694, Ward 4 with 622 and Ward 6 with 522.
Haley finishes strongest in Ward 2 with 451, followed by Ward 1 with 441, Ward 5 with 426, Ward 4 with 379, Ward 3 with 342 and Ward 6 with 277.
Meanwhile, President Biden's write-in campaign garnered nearly triple the votes of his closest competitor, Dean Phillips, 1,425-529. Marianne Williamson finished a distant third with 109 votes.
Citywide turnout was reported at 49 percent, according to the Rochester City Clerk's Office, with the lion's share of voters being on the Republican side.
Registered GOP voters who cast ballots numbered 6,512, while only 2,416 voted in the Democrat primary.
