ROCHESTER - Rochester's National Night Out will take place Tuesday from 5-8:30 p.m. at the Rochester Commons and Grant Street.
Rochester Night Out is part of a national celebration held throughout the United States to promote crime prevention and substance free community programming.
This year's event will feature more than 40 local organizations and businesses, local food vendors, family friendly games and entertainment and public service demonstrations.
Additionally we will have relay races, face painting and at 8:30 there will be a family friendly movie.
The rain date is Aug. 9.
Meanwhile, Dover's celebration of the event will be the same night in Henry Law Park from 4-7 p.m. and is also free to the public.
The public will be able to see some of the specialized equipment and vehicles that the police use to carry out their duties including the crime scene and mobile command vehicles. The police department's mounted patrol and K9 officers will be at the event and interacting with the public. National Night Out will also feature firefighters and fire apparatus from the Dover Fire and Rescue Department.
