ROCHESTER- Before the holiday parties begin at The Castle on Charles, The Funky Divas will perform an uplifting mix of bluegrass, jazz, soul, gospel and holiday favorites on Dec. 1.
The concert will open with a special performance by the acoustic act 'Perfectly Mended.'
A gospel trio with a four-piece band, the Funky Divas will rock the Castle with uplifting roots music, harmonies and a capella. The group began 25 years ago on the Seacoast and over the years has performed in many different forms: sometimes as a small band and other times as a band with up to 30 people in a gospel choir. Those steps have led to the close knit group that the Divas are today.
The spirit that flows through their songs goes back to the roots of music itself. It is universal and tells stories as old as time. Their rootsy music can be harmonious or hard rockin' and reflective. It is toe tapping, hand clapping, and often moves audiences to their feet and into the aisles to dance.
The opening act will be special guests 'Perfectly Mended' This brother and sister Christian singer/songwriter duo will be showcasing some of their own music as well as their favorite Christmas song to make it all a full evening of upbeat music and celebration.
