Former Rochester man wanted as fugitive captured

MANCHESTER, N.H. - A former Rochester man wanted for parole violations and suspected in a string of Lebanon robberies in which firearms were stolen is behind bars today after being caught by Manchester Police on Tuesday.

Timothy Wayne Smith, 22, who was considered armed and dangerous, was reportedly observed in the Green Street area of Manchester, where members of the Manchester Police Department responded. Additional tipsters in the area provided information that led officers to a specific apartment in the 200 block of Green Street, where Smith was located and arrested without incident.  

He was transported to the Manchester Police Department for processing and will be held at the Hillsborough County Jail pending his return to New Hampshire State Prison.  

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force applauded the public and the hundreds of tips it received that helped lead to Smith’s arrest.

It said Sunday’s press release was a major contributing factor that led to Smith being found and brought to justice.

Smith was serving time and was on parole after being convicted of receiving stolen property.
