CONCORD - A Berwick woman who formerly lived in Milton was sentenced today in federal court to 57 months in prison for fentanyl trafficking.
According to court documents and testimony, members of the Strafford County Drug Task Force conducted surveillance on a vehicle Dec. 20, 2016, in which Nicole Perry, formerly of Felker Drive, Milton, was a passenger as it traveled from Gonic to Lawrence, Mass.
As the car returned to New Hampshire, law enforcement officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 16, just beyond the Dover tolls. Perry admitted that she had purchased drugs, which were concealed in her clothing. A later search revealed that Perry was in possession of approximately 116 grams of fentanyl.
In September Perry pleaded guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute. Upon her release from federal prison, Perry will serve a period of three years of supervised release.
"Fentanyl continues to be the primary cause of the large number of deadly overdose deaths that are plaguing the Granite State," said Acting U.S. Attorney John J. Farley. "I commend the work of the law enforcement officers in this case who successfully prevented the distribution of a large quantity of this deadly drug."
The case was investigated by the Strafford County Drug Task Force, including officers from the police departments of Dover and Rochester, the Strafford County Sheriff's Department, and the New Hampshire State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Davis and Shane B. Kelbley.
