Flash flood watch in effect for Strafford, York counties through midnight

A flood watch is in effect for Strafford and York counties today till midnight due to rain and melting snow.
The anticipated excessive rainfall along with snowbanks and ice jams around drainage areas could lead to local flooding in areas that are frequently affected.
The runoff from hilly and mountainous areas could also lead to rivers and streams overflowing their banks.
One to two inches of rain are expected before it subsides around midnight.
The heaviest rain will occur on and off between the time of this posting until around 6 p.m. when the precipitation will begin to lighten to a drizzle under a thick cloud cover.
Today's highs will be in the mid-50s with clearing overnight and sunny skies on Tuesday with a high again in the mid-50s.
