After last year's winter that saw less than a handful of snowfalls, none that packed more than a few inches, this weekend's storm could sound the alarm that Old Man Winter may be making a comeback in 2024.
The steadiest snow during the storm's height Saturday night into early Sunday is expected to fall in northern Connecticut, Massachusetts, parts of far southern Maine and southern New Hampshire including the Northern Seacoast,
Forecast maps show the Greater Rochester area may get no more than 3-6 inches, but unlike many of last year's snowfalls that featured heavy, water-laden accumulations, this is expected to be more of the fluffy, drier variety.
Friday and much of the day on Saturday will see highs in the low 30s and sunny skies, giving area residents plenty of daylight time to prepare for the storm, which could bring some extra snow due to a separate front heading south from Canada.
Parts of western and central Massachusetts could get up to a foot, according to Accuweather maps.
Residents are advised to keep an eye on the forecast as the storm nears as any changes in its track could bring more or less snow or even changes in the precip.
As of today, however, ice is not forecast for the Greater Rochester area.
