Families urged to sign up for school alerts, communications programs

ROCHESTER - Superintendent Kyle Repucci is encouraging parents and guardians to sign up for the district's various communication and emergency alert programs.
There are three alert systems that serve as the primary communications tools for the district that families are strongly encouraged to sign up for:
Honeywell Instant Alerts, which provides email, phone or text message alerts to families during emergencies and provides daily communication info. For information on how to set up an account, click here.
Infinite Campus, which serves as the district's student information system and allows for real-time communications between families and teachers. Teachers are able to share information about classroom management, such as attendance, assignments, announcements and grades, with parents and students. Rochester Public School News blog, which houses the latest news and happenings in the district. Families can also subscribe to the news blog to receive email notifications of new posts on the site. The subscription option can be found at the top of the front page on the site.
Alerts sent out through these systems include, but are not limited to, schedule changes, late buses, food service notices, and other important notices from the school department to families and staff.
Additionally, many of the communications from the district are posted on the Rochester Public School's Twitter and website.
"These tools have proven vital over the last few months as we've navigated through the pandemic by allowing us to quickly share messages with our entire community, especially when we need to send out information about decisions at a moment's notice," Repucci said. "We hope you will sign up for these services if you haven't already to ensure you stay up to date with all information and emergency alerts from the district."
The district sent out a survey this morning to gauge the technology needs for families during the remote learning period. Remote learning will begin Thursday and remain in place until Jan. 19. Students will be able to attend school on Wednesday on an early release schedule to review remote learning schedules, gather belongings, and take home technology if needed.
Information about the food services program will be shared through these communications systems in the next day as well.
