ROCHESTER - The Fallen Leaf Bistro, the only breakfast place in the city's downtown, is fast becoming a hot spot this summer, and for good reason.
The food is excellent, the service is top notch and, well, you're in the heart of downtown, which has its own special sizzle.
Owner and chef Kris Enis has fashioned a menu that can handle anything from a blue collar worker looking for an egg sandwich to upscale wraps to myriad variations or your favorite eggs Benedict plate.
One of her favorite wraps is the Baby & Mama Wrap: two eggs, grilled chicken, bistro sauce and cheddar served in a white, wheat, spinach, Garlic and Herb on Sun dried tomato wrap.
On the Benedict front, how bout the Bistro Irish Benny: two poached eggs, braised brisket served on an English muffin.
Keep in mind besides traditional sides you can also get fruit, yogurt or cottage cheese.
We usually stay with the pedestrian so we just got the one egg, with sausage, home fries and gluten free toast.
The one egg looked like two and the patty sausage (my favorite) was so big, I couldn't finish. Being on my bike and not wanting to take a doggie bag, I just gave it to the doggie at the next table, who was very appreciative.
If looks tell the tale, you can see by the above photo this was a very delish way to start the day.
The Fallen Leaf Bistro is located at 44 North Main St.
