ROCHESTER - Rochester Police said today they believe a female suspect may have been involved in the robbery of a longtime Rochester barber shop on Friday.
Police responded to the incident at Hebert's Barber Shop on Milton Road around 8 p.m. and used a K-9 unit to track the suspect, but the scent went cold after a short distance.
Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said today that police have collected evidence at the scene, including some that leads them to believe a woman may have been involved in the robbery, which occurred after the shop was closed and inside the residence area of the barber shop's proprietor.
Thomas added police haven't ruled out there may be multiple suspects as well.
The suspect dumped hard-packed snow and ice onto the victim, who was sitting on a couch when the attack occurred, said Thomas, who added some details of the incident had to be kept confidential so as not to compromise the investigation.
The suspect fled after taking an undisclosed amount of money.
Because the snow was used as a weapon, Thomas said the suspect could face Class B felony charges punishable by up to seven years in state prison.
At this time there is no description of the suspect since the victim never got a good look at them, police say.
